summary: A medium-size apple bred for supermarket sales in Belgium
identification: Medium size. Oblong conical with faint ribbing and some crowning. The skin is slightly rough, background colour is yellow green ovr which are stripes of orange red covering about three quarters of the surface. Lenticels are yellow green and fairly prominent; quite profuse. The stem is long and medium thickness set in a medium deep, wide cavity. Some russeting in the cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is yellow, crisp and juicy with good sugar-acid balance. It can be stored for up to six weeks in refrigeration with no loss of flavour, firmess or juiciness.
origins: Developed as part of a controlled breeding in Rillaar (Belgium) in 1988 by Johan Nicolai, Paul Van Laer, Johan Keulemans, Hendrik Eyssen, Els Pauwels and Inge De Wit for Better3Fruit consortium and selected for testing in 1994. The flower parent was

cultivation: Vigorous, upright tree. Ripens four months after full bloom and ready for harvest just prior to the start of first period. Produces medium crops and has a tendency to become biennial. Fruit holds well on the tree at ripeness. Winter hardy to about minus 10 degrees Celsius and summer hardy to about 40 degrees before the tree becomes stressed.
