summary: Originated in New Zealand, this bright yellow apple has a sweet-tart flavour
identification: Medium size, round-conic fruit, often tall to very tall. Sometimes slightly crowned around the calyx basin. Greenish-yellow base colour over which is a pink blush on sun-exposed face. Scattered lenticels are small to medium in size. Sometimes marked with patches of russet. The calyx is small and closed and set in a medium deep and medium wide basin. The stem is medium to long and slender, set in a medium deep and medium wide cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is white, fine-grained, firm and crunchy. Sweet-tart. Prone to bruising.
origins: Developed in 1989 at the New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research in Hawkes Bay (New Zealand) by crossing Tenroy Gala with Braeburn . Introduced in 2008 and tested at the Cultivar Centre, Plant & Food Research in Havelock North from 2009 to 2011.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, semi-upright, spreading growth habit. Bears fruit on spurs and the tips of slender branches. Precocious.
