type: Dessert
identification: Medium size, Round conic. The base colour is yellow over which are extensive bright orange streaks. The calyx is large and partly open, set in a rather shallow basin. The stem is medium short and medium thickness, set in a deep and narrow cavity which is russetted.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, coarse-grained, firm. Juicy, sweet and slightly tart. Aromatic.
origins: Raised by W. Seabrook & Sons of Boreham, Essex (U.K.) in the 1930s. As is the case for Flame 2716 and Seabrook Opal this is a cross of Worcester Pearmain with a Rival . Introduced in 1938.
cultivation: Weakly vigorous.
cold storage: Keeps up to two months.
vulnerabilities: Somewhat susceptible to scab.
harvest: Starting early in the fifth period.
