identification: Medium tending to large, round and often somewhat conic. The yellow base colour is washed and striped bright red on the sun-exposed face. The calyx is medium size and partly open, set in a medium deep and somewhat narrow basin, surrounded by a large patch of cinnamon russet. The stem is short and medium thickness, set in a somewhat deep and narrow cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is cream-coloured and coarse-grained. Sweet and aromatic.

Cox’s Orange Pippin and
Jonathan , developed in the mid-1900s by Piet Sonnaville at the Fruit Research Station in Wilhelminadorp, Netherlands. Released, 1971.
