no image available
type: Eating, Pie, Sauce
synonyms: Note that there is an American cultivar by the name Monark as well as a British heritage cultivar by the name Monarch .

Two experimental cultivars -- NJ-674016 crossed with NJ-40 -- stemming from Rutger University's involvement in the PRI (the anagram refers to Universities of Purdue, Rutgers and Illinois) effort to develop hardy, genetically scab resistant cultivars were the parents of MonArk. Apparently the new cultivar, dubbed AA-44, was not officially introduced by the University of Arkansas following an unauthorized release during the selection phase of its development.
