identification: Medium to large, round-conic. The base colour is yellow, marked with dense red striping.
characteristics: The flesh is pale cream-coloured, crisp and firm. Juicy, sweet-tart, aromatic, with sugar candy, anise and nutty flavours. Sometimes stained red.
uses: Dessert, also makes a flavourful apple sauce. Excellent for pies and tarts.

cultivation: Vigorous, moderately spreading, upright tree. Precocious. Annual crops. Does well in well-drained sandy or clay based loam and can tolerate drought conditions. Suitable for farm-gate sales as well as u-pick orchards.
