summary: A crisp and flavourful red-fleshed eating apple developed from an open-pollinated Airlie Red Flesh.
identification: Medium size, round to marginally conic. The base colour is matte-yellow, with no over-colour, though the stain from the red flesh often shows through in patches. Light-coloured lenticels frequently show on the faces. The stem is medium long, moderately stout, set in a rather shallow and moderately wide cavity. The calyx is small and closed, set in a somewhat deep and wide basin which can be surrounded by a slight crown.
characteristics: The flesh is red under the skin and close to the core, often with white or pink between the two. Crisp with a sweet-tart flavour with distinct notes of raspberries.
origins: One of several cultivars developed in 2001 by Bill Howell at his Topcliffe orchard near Prosser in eastern Washington (U.S.A.). Open-pollinated RF: Airlie Red Flesh Apple with the pollen parent assumed to have been MN 1711 . Howell TC3 was selected from among the seedlings, grafted to root stock and, when first fruited in 2010, it was selected on the basis of its red flesh and quality of fruit.

notes: Similar in size, flavour and texture to the RF: Howell TC2 . The Lucy Glo is often peach coloured on the surface whereas its twin the Lucy Rose is usually bright red.
