identification: Medium to large, oblong and often lop sided, flattened at the top and bottom. Noticeable, rounded ribs. Base colour is green ripening to yellow with the sun exposed face flushed a bright red. Wide broken stripes. Random patches of russet.
characteristics: Flesh is creamy white, firm, juicy and sweet. Aromatic.

origins: Developed in 1902 by George Carpenter, head gardener at the West Hall Gardens, Byfleet, Surrey (U.K.) by crossing Blenheim Orange with pollen from King of the Pippins .
cultivation: Vigorous, upright spreading spur bearer.
