identification: Small tending to medium, round tending to conic. The base colour is yellow over which is a bright cherry red wash and a pattern of stripes. The calyx is small and closed, set in a shallow somewhat indented basin. The stem is slender and long, set in a narrow and deep cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is pale green, fine-grained and firm. Sweet, very tart.
origins: Jonathan crossed with pollen from
Ralls' Genet ; developed in 1933 at the Aomori Apple Experiment Station in Japan. Named in 1948 and introduced, 1974.
