identification: Small, round conic shape. The base colour is yellowish, over which is a red wash covering the sun-exposed face, often striped. Smooth.
characteristics: The flesh is cream coloured. Crisp. Sweet-sharp.
origins: Developed by G. T. Sparks at the Long Ashton Research Station in Bristol, England. ( Worcester Pearmain x Beauty of Bath ) crossed with Beauty of Bath . Released in 1947.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous. Spur bearer.
harvest: Ready to be picked in the latter half of the third period.
notes: Originally went under the name Apollo but there is German cultivar by the same name.
