identification: Medium to large. Round flattened and somewhat angular on the sides. The base colour is green maturing to light greenish yellow covered 40 to 60 per cent with red flushes and darker stripes. Tends to be thick skinned with a greasy feel at maturity and in storage. The eye is small and open, set in a deep and wide basin which is sometimes surrounded by a knobbed crown. The stem is stout and medium length, set in a wide, deep and green-lined cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is white, soft and fine grained. Very juicy, sweet and sprightly, aromatic.

Osborne . First fruited in 1983 and introduced in 1990.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, spreading tree with drooping branches. Heavy crops, annually and ready for harvest in the second half of the first period. Some tendancy to drop fruit, Blooms very heavily.
cold storage: Lasts a month or two in cold storage, but needs to be checked regularly.
harvest: In the last half of the third period.
notes: One of many varieties bred by the institute for scab resistance using Malus floribunda genetics.
