summary: A Golden-Delicious-style dessert apple developed in the Czech Republic in 1999. Excellent resistance to scab, thanks to the Vf genetics provided by its flower parent.
identification: Medium tending to large. Round with faint ribbing. The skin is thin and smooth. Yellow base colour over which can be an faded orange blush on the sun-exposed face. The stem is long and moderately stout, set in a moderately deep, funnel-shaped cavity. The calyx is medium size and open, set in a narrow and moderately deep, lightly ribbed basin.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, firm, crisp and fine grained. Very juicy with a well-balanced sweet-tart ratio. Aromatic with the best flavours developing about three weeks after harvest.
origins: Bred in 1999 under the direction of Dr. Jaroslav Tupý at the Institute of Experimental Botany in Prague (Czech Republic) by crossing Topaz with pollen from Golden Delicious . Released in 2006. The cultivar is a cross of the same parents as UEB 3264/2 but the flower parent was Topaz rather than Golden Delicious.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, spreading tree. Precocious. Bears fruit on spurs and one-year-old shoots and bears heavy crops in clusters of up to five apples. Fruit thinning is necessary to ensure apples of the appropriate size.
cold storage: Keeps for six months in cold storage. Reaches full maturity after three months in storage.
