summary: Bred in Japan by crossing Delicious and Golden Delicious, the Sekai Ichi can grow extremely large.
identification: Large to very large and round conic. Greenish yellow base colour, almost entirely washed bright red and densely striped darker red.
characteristics: The flesh is pale yellow. Firm and crisp. Juicy and very sweet. Mild flavour.
origins: Developed at the Prefectural Experiment Station, Aomori (Japan) in 1930 by crossing
Red Delicious with
Golden Delicious . Introduced in 1974.
cultivation: Very vigorous and upright spreading. Slow to start fruiting. Tends to produce best every other year.

harvest: In the middle of the fifth period. Fruit tends to drop at maturitiy.
notes: Very similar to the Delicious in flavour.
