summary: This excellent eating apple originated in the heart of Texas as a seedling of Granny Smith. Unique in appearance and flavour, but favours warm climates.
identification: Medium tending to large, round conic. The base colour is green over which is a reddish-pink covering all of the sun-exposed faces, marked with russet patches and large lenticels. The stem is medium length and medium stout, angled to the side of a wide, medium-deep, russetted cavity. The calyx is large and open, set in wide and somewhat shallow basin.
characteristics: The flesh is white, fine grained and crisp. Juicy, sweet and lightly tart. Complex flavours.

origins: Grown from pips of
Granny Smith in 1965 by Reverend Herman T. Morgan of Houston, Texas (U.S.A.). It first fruited in 1972.
cultivation: Tolerates Hardiness Zones 7 through 9 in areas of mild winters and warm summers.
harvest: Ready for harvest early in the third period.
ploidism: Diploid. Self fertile.
