identification: Medium size, round and somewhat flattened. Base skin colour is golden-yellow which is almost completely covered with flushes of deep cerrry red over 50 to 80% of the surface. Stem is medium long and somewhat stout, set in a deep, narrow and russetted cavity, with the russet frequently radiating onto the shoulder and across the face. The skin tends to become greasy at harvest.
characteristics: Flesh is creamy-white, fine-grained, crisp with a distinct crunch and very juicy. Sweet with good acid balance. When ripened fully with good conditions, the fruit has a discernible strawberry flavour. Grown in cool or poor conditions, it develops a tinny taste.

Šampion and an experimental variety labeled as UEB 1200/1 which carries the scab-resistant gene from Malus floribunda 821.
