identification: Medium size, oblate or long conic, sometimes lop sided and angular sides. The skin base colour is greenish yellow, washed with deep red over which are darker stripes. Light coloured lenticels. Covered with a pale bloom as it approaches ripeness. The calyx is medium size and partly to fully open, set in a deep and narrow basin which is surrounded by a lightly knobbed crown. The stem is short and medium stout, set in a deep and narrow, russeted and irregular cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is pale green, crisp, firm and fine-grained. Juicy, sweet, slightly tart and a slight strawberry flavour. Keeps four months in cold storage. Four months
uses: A tasty, fresh-eating apple.
origins: Developed in 1922 at the Federal Agriculture Research Station in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada) by crossing McIntosh with ( McIntosh x Yellow Newtown Pippin ). Introduced in 1962.
cultivation: Hardy, moderately vigorous, upright tree. Produces annually but needs to be thinned after fruit set to achieve adequate fruit size.
harvest: Ready for harvest late in the third period.
