summary: A Gala-style dessert apple developed in Brazil. Bred for both its flavours and its scab-resistance.
identification: Medium size, conic, with little or no ribbing on the faces. Little or no bloom on the surface of the fruit but often greasy, especially after some time in storage. The base colour is pale yellowish over which is a solid, maroon wash that covers most or all of the surface. The stem cavity sometimes shows a light russet; the stem itself is medium long and slender, set in a deep and funnel-shaped.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, fine-grained. Juicy with mild flavours.
uses: Bred and grown as a commerical eating apple.
origins: Developed at the Epagri/Caçador Experimental Station at Caçador, Santa Catarina (Brazil) in 1988 by crossing
Kidd's D-8 with pollen from an experimental variety labelled Malus 4. Released in 2009.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous. Spur-bearer. Grows in clusters of up six apples.
vulnerabilities: Geneticaly resistant to scab. Mildew tolerant.
harvest: Ready for harvest in the middle of the fourth period. Requires two pickings.
