identification: Medium size. Flat round with angular faces and often lop-sided and irregular. The base colour is greenish yellow which is almost completely washed red-brown and a pattern of fine, broken stripes. The calyx is moderately large and partly open, set in a shallow basin surrounded by an irregularly knobbed crown. The stem is medium length and thickness set in a medium deep and open cavity. Look for a chalky bloom on the skin.
characteristics: The flesh is white, fine-grained and soft. Very sweet, slightly tart with strawberry flavour.

Worcester Pearmain and
Gladstone at Laxton Brothers Nursery at Bedford, England in 1905. Introduced in 1939.
