The base colour is yellow over which is a dark red wash covering almost all of the apple and marked with slightly darker striping. Marked with medium size lenticels. characteristics: The flesh is pale yellow, moderately firm and medium fine-grained. Very juicy, sweet with minimal acidity. Tends to brown quickly when exposed to air.
origins: Developed in Japan by private breeder Seiichi Kudo from a cross of Senshu and pollen from Tsugaru carried out in 1981 at Izumida, Ooaza Ishikawa, Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture. The 100 seedlings from the cross produced fruit in 1988 and from these he selected the tree which demonstrated the best eating qualities and the least number of defects. He then grafted scions from the tree to other test trees to ensure its stability before its release in 2000.
