identification: Medium to large, round to round flattened with angular faces. The base colour is greenish yellow which is almost completely flushed red and orange when mature. The calyx is large and partly open, set in a funnel shaped basin. The stem is slender and moderately long, set in a deep, funnel shaped cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is cream-coloured. Crunchy. Juicy, sweet and slightly tart. Aromatic.

London Pippin bred by H. Schmidt & H. Muraski in 1930 at the Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture, Münchenberg-Mark, (Germany). Released in 1971.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous. Upright, pyramidal growth habit. Does best in slightly clay soils.
cold storage: Keeps up to five months. Best flavour and texture after one month in storage.
