Jonathan crossed with
Baldwin Green by Albert Etter at Ettersberg, California (U.S.A.) and introduced in 1944. However, that's open to discussion since Baldwin is a triploid which means that, at the very best, it produces very poor pollen.
cold storage: Keeps up to one month in cold storage.
vulnerabilities: Very susceptible to mildew and blight.
harvest: Ready for harvest in the middle of the fourth period.
notes: It was originally earmarked to become a commercial apple variety, but the flesh becomes soft within less than a week unless refrigerated.
ploidism: Diploid. Self sterile.
