summary: A limb mutation of Jonagold found by Joseph Morren in his orchard near Halen in Limburg (Belgium) in 1980. Darker colour, almost purple, than the parent. Initially brownish, but turning blood-red at harvest. The flesh is faintly yellowish, crisp and sweet-tart. An excellent fresh-eating apple.
