summary: Intended as a fresh-eating supermarket apple developed in China. Also good for making pies.
identification: Medium size, round conic. The skin is smooth and glossy with a waxy finish at maturity. A greenish-yellow base colour maturing to rich yellow over which is a reddish blush marked with deeper red striping. Lenticels are tan-coloured, small and numerous. The stem is slender and short to medium length, set in a deep and narrow cavity. The calyx is tightly closed and set in a shallow basin.
characteristics: The flesh is cream coloured, fine-grained and crisp. Juicy, sweet and slightly tart
origins: Developed in 1989 at the Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institute in Henan Province (China) by crossing Golden Delicious with Fuji . Introduced in 1988.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous. Spreading branches caused by heavy harvests. Semi-spur.
cold storage: Keeps at room temperature for a week in cold storage for up to six months and in controlled atmosphere storage for close to a year.
