Glory of the West
type: Cooking
synonyms: Dutch Codlin, but this name actually refers to another apple (please see
Dutch Codlin ) which was called Glory of the West by German pomologist Adrian Diel during the early 1800s. The
Turk's Cap also resembles this apple, adding to the confusion.

Abundantly marked with russet lenticels. The stalk is medium length and set in a deep cavity which is marked with a large patch of ashy russet.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, tender, very juicy. Brisk and flavourful. Keeps about two months in cold storage.
uses: A cooking apple
cultivation: Vigorous. Bears well.
notes: There were apparently several apples which were given this name, all of them remarkably similar with only minor differences.
