identification: Medium size tending to small. Round to round conic. The base colour is greenish yellow which is washed red with some faint, broken striping on the sun-exposed faces. The calyx is medium size and open, set in a shallow and narrow basin. The stem is medium stout and rather short, barely reaching above the shoulders of the apple. Some russet extends out from the medium deep and funnel shaped cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is cream coloured, crisp. Juicy, sweet with a mild honeyed pear flavour.

Stark Delicious was developed at Japan's Aomori Apple Experiment Station in 1933. Named and released in 1949.
