summary: Another from Britain's Laxton Brothers nursery, this dessert apple has a distinct aniseed flavour.
identification: Medium size. Conic. Yellowish base colour, blushed red on the sun-exposed face, flushed reddish orange around the stem cavity. Sometimes lightly russeted. Can develop a greasy coating as it begins to ripen.
characteristics: The flesh is cream-coloured, soft. Sweet with a distinct aniseed flavour.
origins: Developed by Laxton Brothers Nursery of Bedfordshire (U.K.) by crossing Cellini ( Cellini ) with pollen from Beauty of Bath ( Beauty of Bath ). Introduced in 1918.
