identification: Conic sometime flattened. The skin is smooth and glossy. Base colour yellow washed reddish orange to 80% of the surface. Slight russeting at the stem cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is cream coloured sometimes yellowish, crisp. Sweet and juicy. Excellent sweet-tart balance with a Cox-like flavour. When stored too long, they become dry.

Cox’s Orange Pippin developed at the Delbard Pépinières International at Malicorne, in the Allier Department of central France. The nursery was founded by Georges Delbard in the mid-1900s and continued by his sons since the late 1900s; the focus of its apple breeding programme has been to develop disease-resistant cultivars.
