identification: Medium size, round-conic with ribbing on the faces. The skin base colour is pale green which is washed and striped with bright red over virtually all of the apple. Abundant greenish lenticels. Calyx is small, tightly closed and set in a shallow, wide and pleated basin. The stem is somewhat stout and moderately long, extending over the cavity which is funnel shaped.
characteristics: The flesh is pale green, firm, slightly coarse-grained and crisp. Juicy, somewhat sweet, brisk and with a distinct strawberry flavour

origins: An open-pollinated seedling of McIntosh raised by Stearns Lothrop (Davey) Davenport of North Grafton, Massachusetts (U.S.A.) during the 1920s. Introduced commerically in 1950.
cultivation: Hardy, moderately vigorous, upright spreading tree. Produces dependable crops.
