summary: Moderately dwarfed, sweet and flavourful apple tree suitable for the patio or restrained garden area. Produces an abundance of fresh fruit.
identification: Medium size, round to conic shape. Greenish yellow base colour over which is a dark red pattern of stripes. The calyx is open and set in a medium deep and wide basin. The stem is medium length and medium stout, set in a modest cavity. Scattered, mid-size lenticels.
characteristics: The flesh is faint yellow. Crisp. Moderately juicy. Moderately aromatic.
origins: Developed by Chris Walsh and Julia Harshman at the University of Maryland's research facility in Keedysville, Maryland (U.S.A.) by crossing Cripps Pink with pollen from a cross of Wijcik Spur McIntosh and Kidd's D-8 in an effort to produce a cultivar which resistant to fire blight, a serious problem in the region's orchards.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, upright spreading growth habit. Bears fruit on spurs and one-year branching. Fruits grow in clusters of one to three apples and need to be trimmed to one per cluster to maintain size.
cold storage: Keeps well for two months and possibly more.
