synonyms: EFA-Blauacher, Blauacher Sämling. Note that while this may well have stemmed from the Hessenreuter Blauacher , it is not the same apple.
summary: This cider apple was found growing in the late 1960s in the Kanton Thurgau of northeastern Switzerland.
identification: Medium to large apple. Round to round conic with angular faces. The stem is moderately long and moderately stout, extending well over the shoulders and set in a moderately shallow, wide cavity. The calyx is somewhat small and closed, set in a moderately deep and very wide basin.
characteristics: The flesh is pale greenish white, firm, crisp. Juicy, sweet tart. Mild aromas.
uses: Cider
origins: Found in 1986 growing as a chance seedling in a block of cider apples in the orchard of B. Vonderwahl in Landschlacht, Kanton Thurgau (Switzerland). Tested at the Forschungsanstalt Wädenswil before being introduced.
cultivation: Vigorous to moderately vigorous. Spherical crown.
vulnerabilities: Resistant to scab, slightly prone to mildew.
harvest: Through the first half of the fifth period.

ploidism: Triploid. Not suitable for self pollination or for other apple trees.
