identification: Medium tending to large. Round and slightly conic. The base colour is yellow, blushed red on more than half the apple. The calyx is medium size and partly open, set in a shallow and wide basin. The stem is short and medium stout, set in a deep, funnel-shaped cavity which is russetted with rays running onto and over the shoulder.
characteristics: Soft. Sweet with a faint strawberry flavour.

McIntosh grown by John Clarke in Sussex (U.K.) in the 1930s.
