Woolbrook Pippin
identification: Medium size, oblong to round. The skin is yellow, marked with abundant russet lenticels. The sun exposed face is washed bright red and marked with a pattern of fine red striping. The eye is medium size and closed, set in a wide medium deep basin. The stem is long and slender, set in a deep and narrow cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is white, firm, crisp and tender. Juicy, sweet, somewhat tart and aromatic.
origins: J.H. Stevens & Son 1903 Woolbrook Nursery, Sidmouth NFC: Raised in 1903 by Stevens & Son, Woolbrook Nursery, Sidmouth, Devon. Received an Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1929. Cox Orange Pippin seedling.
