identification: Medium size apple sometimes tending to large. Round conic and slightly ribbed. The base colour is yellow over which is a dense pattern of bright red striping that becomes almost a wash on the sun-exposed face. The stem is short and moderately slender, set in a shallow and narrow cavity which can be thinly russetted. The calyx is small and closed, set in a narrow and shallow basin surrounded by a weak crown. The skin takes on a greasy feel as the apple ripens.
characteristics: The flesh is pale yellowish. Crisp and coarse-grained. Sweet.
origins: Developed by W. Seabrook & Sons at Boreham, Essex (U.K.) in the early 1900s. Introduced in 1936.
