Syke House Russet

identification: Medium size or smaller, round oblate. The skin is greenish yellow, sometimes with a brownish blush on the sun exposed face and completely covered in a brown russet coat. The stem is short and set in a shallow basin.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, firm and crisp. Juicy, sweet and flavourful.
uses: An excellent eating apple.
origins: Originated at Syke House in Yorkshire.rediscovered in 2000 by the RHS Northern Fruit Group during the Milliennium Survey in the Whitby area
