identification: Small tending to medium size. Round and flattened at both ends. The skin colour is golden yellow, over which are wide, red streaks of red. A large patch of russet at the base radiates as streaks and stripes across the face. Russet lenticels are moderately abundant across the surface. The stem is medium length and slender, set in a deep, open and russeted cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is pale yellow, fine grained, tender and breaking. Juicy, mildly tart, richly aromatic. Keeps up five months in cold storage.
uses: A good eating apple.
origins: Swayzie Farm, Naigara, Ontario (Canada). Seedling of Pomme Grise. Early 1800s.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, upright tree. Starts to bear fruit at an early age. Ready for harvest twoard the end of t first period but crops tend to be only moderate..
ploidism: Self sterile.
