summary: This ornamental crabapple sprouts deep purple leaves in spring, turning deep green in summer. It has a particularly heavy bloom of pink flowers.
origins: Developed by William Flemer, Princeton Nurseries (now a historic site) in Kingston, New Jersey (U.S.A.)
cultivation: Upright spreading tree. Reaches up to eight metres at maturity, height and spread. Heavy bloomer. Set back from walkways, abundant fruit drops through fall and winter.
vulnerabilities: Somewhat susceptible to scab, also fireblight.

flowers: Flower buds are red, opening to pink blossoms with reddish borders.
leaves: Young leaves are purple, becoming deep green.
fruit: Fruit tan coloured to red. can be biennial, smaller than a golf ball.
