identification: Medium size, round, often irregular. The skin is pale yellow, blushed pale pink on the sun exposed face. Abundant russeted lenticels. The eye is very small and set in a deep and narrow basin. The stem is somewaht short, medium thickness and set in a narrow and deep cavity which is often lightly russeted.
characteristics: The flesh is cream-coloured, fine-grained, firm and crisp. Juicy, sweet, sprightly with honeyed flavours and aromas.
uses: A fresh eating apple.
origins: Developed in 1956 by Dr. K. O. Lapins at the Dominion Experimental Farm (now called the Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre) in Summerland, British Columbia (Canada) by crossing Golden Delicious with Grimes Golden. Introduced and named in 1970.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, spreading tree. Starts to bear fruit quite young and produces moderately heavy crops. Tolerates Hardiness Zone 4.
cold storage: Keeps up to four months in cold storage.
harvest: In the last half of the fourth period.
notes: Does well in farm gate sales thanks to its semblance to the Golden Delicious and ripening two weeks earlier.
