identification: Medium to large size, rounded and somewhat flat. Base skin colour is yellow which is flushed with red and showing fine red stripes at the flower end. Look for sparse flecks of russet.
characteristics: Cream coloured flesh, crisp and firm, sweet-tart with noticeable honey, strawberry flavours and a hint of anise. Thin skinned.
uses: Fresh eating apple.
origins: A Starkspur Golden Delicious x Discovery cross developed by noted British amateur breeder Hugh Ermen at the Brogdale Horticultural Trust in Faversham (U.K.) during the 1980s. Introduced by Frank Matthews Nursery of Tenbury Wells in 2000.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, upright spreading spur bearer. Heavy crops. Holds on the tree even after harvest date. Blossoms have some frost resistance.
cold storage: Keeps two months.
vulnerabilities: Resistant to scab and mildew. Prone to bitter pit.
harvest: At the end of the third period and continues over a span of four weeks.
