Screveton Golden Pippin
type: Eating
identification: Small, round and somewhat oblong. The skin is green maturing to greenish yellow over which are patches of russet and russeted lenticels. The stime is short to medium length and set in a shallow cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is yellow and tender. Keeps for four months in cold storage.
uses: An eating aple.
origins: Raised in the garden of John Thoroton at Screveton, Nottinghamshire in the early 1800s.
ploidism: Self sterile.
