origins: Developed at Havelock North, New Zealand by Allan White and Don McKenzie for the New Zealand Horticulture Research Institute in the 1970s from a cross between Gala and Splendour. A large number of pips from this cross were grown and the Beauty was selected from the seedling trees for its early ripening.
cultivation: Vigorous, but tends to produce biennially. Somewhat intolerant to frost
