identification: Small to medium size, round and conic. The base colour is pale cream over which there is a bright red flush. Numerous large, haloed lenticels. The eye is medium size, closed and set in a shallow, ribbed basin. The stem is short and slender, set in a medium deep, narrow cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is white, fine texture and soft. Juicy and somewhat sweet with just a hint of bitterness. The apples tend to bruise easily and soften soon after harvest.
origins: USA 1938Discovered by Douglas Boner at Orofino, Idaho, USA 1938. Introduced by Stark Bros, Missouri 1944. Formerly grown as an early commercial variety.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, spreading treet. Bears fruit on spurs. Produces heavy crops. Thin aggressively at the flower stage to get medium size fruit.
