identification: Medium tending to small, round and somewhat conic, ridged at the crown. The skin base colour is pale yellow over which are scattered broken stripes and streaks on the sun exposed face. The calyx is large and open, set in a deep and wide, rippled basin.
characteristics: The flesh is white, soft and tender. Very juicy, sweet with hints of balsamic.
uses: Cooking and eating.
origins: According to British pomologist Robert Hogg in the 1859 edition of his "The apple and its Varieties" "This apple was raised nearly half a century ago by Mr. Morris, a market gardener at Brentford and is sometimes met with under the name of Morris's Sack and Sugar."
cultivation: Vigorous. Produces large crops and branch need to be supported to bear the weight. Biennial.
