identification: Medium size or smaller, wide conic. The skin is yellowish green with a pale red blush on the sun exposed face and covered with a thin russet coat. The calyx is small and closed, set in a narrow, lightly puckered basin. The stem is long, stout and set in a wide cavity which has rays of fine russet extending onto the shoulder and sometimes becoming a network on the faces.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, fine-grained, tender and crisp. Very juicy and sweet, somewhat brisk with a sour candy flavour.

origins: A Middlesex (U.K.) variety first documented by Hugh Ronalds in 1831 in his book, "Pyrus Malus Brentfordiensis."
