synonyms: French Pippin
identification: Small and round. The skin is pale yellow, almost white with a tan blush and patches of dark russet.
characteristics: The flesh is yellow, tender and juicy. Spicy and aromatic.
origins: arose in Burlington, New Jersey, and was first described in 1817.
notes: The name is said to come from the fleshy mound at the base of the stem which vaguely resembles a Roman nose.
ploidism: Self sterile.
