type: Cider, Juice
identification: Medium to large size, round cylindric. Skin is smooth, green maturing to yellow and washed wine red over 90 per cent of the surface. Sometimes lightly russeted.
characteristics: The flesh is ?????, fine grained, Very juicy, sweet sharp with a pronounced fruity aroma. Quite sharp when grown in cool or partially shaded locations, sweeter when grown in full sun and in a warm location. Brix 11.8, acidity 9.2 g/litre
uses: Used for commercial juice production. Also used for making cider.
origins: Developed by the Institut f r Obstforschung Dresden? Pillnitz (Germany) by crossing James Grieve with pollen from scab resistant experimental clone. Released in 1990, it was the first of 17 Re?cultivars (known as ReZista in North Amer developed as part of this programme.
cultivation: Weakly vigorous. Precocious. Sets first fruit quite young. Produces regular, large harvests. Needs a fairly vigorous root stock.
