identification: Large, round with angular sides. The base colour is green which is washed deep red or maroon ont he sun expsosed face. An abundance of white spots on the green, shaded surface, these are not readily visible on the washed face. The eye is medium size and open, set in a moderately deep and somewhat narrow basin which can be surrounded by a knobbed crown. The stem is short and stout, set in a deep and narrow cavity.

uses: Cooking. Makes tart sauce.
origins: NFC A chance seedling found in about 1884 near Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Introduced by Miller. Received the Award of Merit in 1908 and a First Class Certificate in 1910 from the Royal Horticultural Society.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, upright spreading tree. Bears fruit on spurs. Ready for harvest early, just prior to the f period.
