identification: Medium size, round conic, often with angular sides. The base colour is greenish yellow which is washed deep maroon red on the sun exposed face. Light-coloured lenticels mark the coloured face. The calyx is small and partly open, set in a narrow basin surrounded by a pronounced knobbed crown. The stem is short and medium thickness, set in a deep, narrow and heavily russetted cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is white, firm. Sweet and honey-flavoured.
origins: Found as a wild seedling by Ralph Banta in 1934 in Green Forest, Arkansas (U.S.A.) Introduced in 1965.
cultivation: Weakly vigorous.

notes: The flavour is remarkably similar to the Delicious.
