identification: Medium size tending to large, round and flattened at the ends. The skin is pale green with a faint reddish blush on the sun exposed face and almost entirely covered with patches of russet. The eye is small and partly open The stem is short and set in a shallow cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, firm. Dry and sweet, slightly tart and nutty with a distinct fruit candy flavour.
uses: Robert Hogg praised it highly as a eating apple.
origins: Raised by John Williams of Pitmaston, Worcestershire (UK) in the early 1800s??First fruited in 1814.?? and presen to the London Horticultural Society in 1820
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, upright spreading tree. Bears fruit on spurs.
