identification: Large. Round flattened often with angular sides. The base colour is green, flushed bright red and marked with darker red stripes on the sun exposed face. The eye is medium large and closed, set in a shallow and wide basin. The stem is short to medium and somewhat slender, set in a deep and funnel shaped, russeted cavvity.
characteristics: The flesh is cream coloured, coarse?grained, soft. Sweet and aromatic.
uses: Dessert and makes an excellent sweet and golden apple sauce.
origins: Devon UK 1800 Found as a wild seedling by Peter Lock in the early 1800s in Dean Woods, Buckfastleigh, Devon
