identification: Small, tending to medium. Oblong. The base colour is greenish yellow, flushed red extensively in consistently sunny locations, minimal in more shaded locations.
characteristics: The flesh is white. Sweet-sharp. Does not brown when exposed to air.
origins: Developed in 1946 by Dr. Cecil Patterson by crossing Columbia Crab with pollen from Melba at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Canada). Introduced in 1960.
cultivation: Very hardy, precocious. Well suited to espalier training. Needs annual pruning to minimize aggressive spread. Hardy.
harvest: Fruit drops when ripe.
ploidism: Diploid. Self sterile.
